Saint William Catholic Church in Austin, Texas, is near the historic Brushy Creek, which was part of the original Chisholm trail. As early as 1635, several forts were built along Brushy Creek to protect early pioneers from Native American attacks.

Brushy was the most well-known community built on the site. Many notable figures and locations, such as the original City Hall, the state capitol, and the famous "Red Stocking" statue, have been discovered in and around the area. Some of these sites are included on a tour of Austin's historic district.
