An Emergency Water Damage Situation

Our client experienced a water damage emergency in Cameron, TX, in their home affecting the bathroom, dining room, and hallway. As soon as they called us, we were on the scene immediately to begin the dry out process. They had damage to drywall, baseboards, paneling, and studs, so we knew we had to get to work right away. It was a challenging job, but we were ready to tackle it head-on.

Our Step by Step Cleanup Process

  1. Assessment and Planning: First, we conducted a thorough assessment using moisture detectors. This helped us understand the extent of the damage and plan our approach effectively.
  2. Water Removal: Before we could start drying, we needed to remove any standing water. We did this promptly to prevent further water damage.
  3. Removing Damaged Materials: We carefully removed the damaged drywall, baseboards, and quarter rounds. Peeling back the wood paneling was crucial to access and dry the studs behind it.
  4. Drying Process: This step was critical. We used 4 air movers and 1 dehumidifier for 3 days straight. These industrial fans and dehumidifiers are powerful and essential in drawing out all the moisture from the affected areas.
  5. Antimicrobial Treatment: After drying, we sprayed an antimicrobial solution. This was an important step to prevent mold growth and sanitize the affected areas.
  6. Cleaning and Sanitizing: Our team cleaned the gap in the tub that was part of the problem and ensured that every nook and cranny was clean and safe.
  7. Monitoring and Completion: Throughout the process, we continuously monitored the areas with our moisture detectors to ensure that the drying process was complete and effective.

The Results: Complete Water and Mold Mitigation

The result was a dry, safe, and restored home for our client. We made sure that the family returned to a house that was not only free from water damage but also safe from any potential health hazards due to the initial water contamination.
