  • Job Type: Water Damage
  • Client: Residential Homeowner
  • Location: Temple, TX
  • Rooms Affected: Kitchen, Garage, Attic
  • Materials Affected: Drywall, Insulation, OSB

We recently completed a job, handling a challenging water damage restoration project in a residential home in Temple, TX. The homeowner had noticed an odd bubbling in the paint on their kitchen ceiling that was hiding a much larger water damage problem. Our mission was to find all of the damage and restore their home to its original state, ensuring safety and comfort for the family.

Bubbling Paint on the Ceiling

When our clients noticed an odd bubble on the ceiling above their kitchen sink, they gave us a call. We pride ourselves on our rapid response time, and in this case, we were onsite within 2 hours of receiving the call. Our first step was to conduct a thorough assessment of the damage. We discovered that the leak in the roof had allowed water to accumulate in the attic over time, leaking through and leading to bubbled-up paint over the kitchen sink. A deeper inspection revealed wet insulation under the AC unit in the attic, a clear indication of the extent of water damage.

The Water Restoration Process

Our approach to restoration is methodical and efficient, focusing on both immediate and long-term solutions.

Attic and Garage Cleanup:

  • Attic: We found that the insulation was heavily soaked. Our team carefully removed the wet insulation, using moisture detectors to ensure no areas were missed.
  • Garage: Here, the main task was moving the insulation to access and dry the affected areas. We utilized two air movers to expedite the drying process.

Kitchen Restoration:

  • Our team skillfully moved a partial can light to access the water-damaged area.
  • The most visible sign of water damage was the paint bubble over the kitchen sink. We peeled off the paint and released the trapped water.
  • To thoroughly dry the kitchen, we used one air mover and one dehumidifier. Additionally, a zip pole was employed to support the area during the drying process.

Mold Prevention:

  • Throughout the process, we utilized antimicrobial spray to prevent mold growth, a common concern in water damage scenarios.

Final Cleanup and Client Satisfaction

After removing all affected materials and drying out the areas in both the kitchen and attic, our final step was to ensure that the homeowner was completely satisfied with the restoration. We conducted a final walk-through with the client, explaining the work done and providing tips on preventing future water damage.
