When a church gets a call that water is pooling across the children's ministry wing, there's no time for a committee meeting. The team at Texas Certified Restoration got the call for commercial water damage restoration at Austin Stone Community Church in Austin, TX, and we were on-site fast. Multiple rooms were flooded, kids' classrooms were soaked, and the church staff needed the space back up and running as quickly as possible.
What We Found When We Arrived
The water loss had spread through at least nine separate areas of the building. Three children's ministry classrooms (the Frogs room, Bees room, and Ladybugs room) all had standing water on VCT flooring. How We Handled Extraction Across Nine Rooms

We ran truck-mounted extraction equipment with hoses into each affected room. In the classrooms, that meant working around small tables, toy shelves, play kitchens, and cribs. The kitchen was the most labor-intensive space. Standing water had pooled around the refrigerator, stove, countertops, and recycling stations. We extracted everything down to the concrete slab and checked underneath appliances where water likes to hide.
The electrical room required extra caution. Before deploying any equipment in that space, we confirmed safe operating conditions. Water and electricity are never a combination you want to rush through.

We directed airflow along the baseboards and into wall cavities where our readings had confirmed water migration.
The EPA recommends addressing water-damaged materials within 24 to 48 hours to prevent mold growth. In a building where children gather every week, that timeline takes on even more urgency. We monitored moisture levels throughout the drying process until every affected area reached acceptable readings.
