Opening Up and Removing Damaged Materials

We had to remove sections of the ceiling drywall and insulation to access all the wet materials. We also opened up parts of the affected walls to check for moisture behind the wallboard. Here's what we removed:


  • Ceiling drywall: The wet drywall had lost its structural integrity and was beginning to sag.
  • Insulation: The fiberglass insulation was completely saturated and had to be removed entirely.
  • Wall sections: We removed the upper portion of the drywall on the wall where moisture had traveled.

We discovered some early-stage microbial growth on the back of the drywall and wall studs. We treated all affected wood framing with EPA-approved antimicrobial solutions and used HEPA filtration during the cleaning process.


Professional Drying Process

We set up air movers strategically throughout the bathroom to promote air circulation across all wet surfaces. Our dehumidifiers worked continuously to pull moisture out of the air. We monitored moisture levels daily with our meters and maintained detailed logs of the drying progress.
